Powlett Reserve Children’s Centre and Kindergarten is an integrated service that provides care and education for children from 0-5 years old. We are located at Cnr Grey & Simpson Streets, East Melbourne and cater for 51 children. We offer full-time and part-time care.

Our centre is a warm and welcoming environment where children can learn and grow. We have a dedicated team of educators who are passionate about early childhood education. We believe that every child is unique and we tailor our programs to meet the individual needs of each child.

Our programs are designed to promote children’s social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development. We offer a variety of activities and experiences that encourage children to explore, learn, and have fun.

We also believe that it is important for families to be involved in their children’s education. We encourage parents to visit our centre regularly and to participate in our programs.

If you are looking for a high-quality childcare provider in East Melbourne, then Powlett Reserve Children’s Centre and Kindergarten is the right choice for you. We would be happy to answer any questions you have and help you find the right care for your child.

Meet the Centre Managers

My name is Stacey and I have a Bachelor in Education (Teaching) Early Childhood from New Zealand. I came to Australia in 2009 and started working for EMCC, not long after I arrived.

First at Yarra Park, where I worked in all rooms and was the Centre Manager for 8 years and then at Powlett since 2021. I thoroughly enjoy working for EMCC, and being a part of all the family’s lives, seeing all the children grow into competent and confident communicators and learners.

My teaching style is based on the RIE theory: where educators treat children as capable human beings, ones who will flourish when given the space to explore the world on their own terms, and trust that they are natural inventors, explorers and self-learners.

I have three children, Liam (10), Grayson (8) and Brianna (3), all of whom have attended and still attend Powlett, my husband Duncan and two dogs, Keith and Walter.

In my spare time, I love to go to the beach with the family, travel and paint and more recently become very passionate about literacy in children and the science of reading after discovering Grayson has dyslexia.

My name is Rose-marie I have an Advanced Diploma in Children’s Services (Child Care) and have undertaken a vast array of professional
development covering many areas to ensure I am up to date with current practices in early childhood education.

I have been employed at EMCC since its inception in 1992, for all bar 4 months where I resigned, and then came back. I have worked at both Yarra Park and Powlett Reserve and although I have worked in all age groups, the majority of the time I’ve been employed has seen I’m in a management role.

EMCC is more than just a job, but family to me, and I have worked with many of the educators for more than 10 years, and some for more than 20 years.

I have seen children and families start their journey into early learning with us, farewelled them into the primary education system, and some I continue to have real friendships with even now. I have a real interest in children’s agency, and ensuring they have a voice in what they learn, how they grown and what they do. I see all children as capable, and it’s up to us as educators to support them in that.

I am married to Karl, and have a fur baby called Aimee. I live half my week in Melbourne and the other half in Geelong. My downtime sees me enjoying reading, music and spending time with my family.
